SILENT FEATURES OF DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1992. During the period 1992-2002, Prof.[Dr] C. D. Kane former Principal gave the impetus for further development to widen the boundaries of the Department to make it full fledged with emphasis on industry-institute interaction activities; a need for U.G. Programmes.
The department has so far produced more than 1000 mechanical graduates. Many of them have assumed esteemed position and illustrious records of achievements, for higher studies in India and Abroad. From inception of the Department, the teaching and non-teaching staff has actively participated in the development of the Institute. The Department has done all the major fabrication and erection work during the construction of workshops and other buildings. All the furniture required for classrooms, office and staff rooms is designed and fabricated by the Department in Mechanical Workshop. The Water pipelines for the entire campus buildings including hostels and messes have been installed and the Department also looks after the regular maintenance of the same. The amount of work involvement is to the tune of Rs. 5 lakhs.
From time to time addition of various experimental set-ups, equipments viz. CNC machine, CAD laboratory, Product Development Lab, Mechatronics Lab , Wi -Fi Internet facility etc. has resulted in sate of art infracture for students.
Department of Mechanical Engineering has contributed very actively in the academic activities of Shivaji University , Kolhapur . The participation includes Board of Studies Chairmanship & syllabus revision workshops . The Department has encouraged the staff members to improve their qualifications by sponsoring and deputing for M.E., M.Tech. & Ph.D. programmes. The Department also has conducted various industry sponsored Workshops for teaching staff of engineering colleges and practicing engineers, to impart latest training in related technological area.
